In addition, please reference Chapter 2: Center 1 where students listen for initial sounds in multi-syllable words in most lessons. In Lesson 21 the students have a picture of the words to aid them and then apply the new word in a sentence.
Later in Chapter 3: Lesson 30, the students do not have a visual picture, thus, the scaffolding process is removed.
